Hindu pilgrimage tourism
There are several temples in Kerala that are world-renowned. People love taking pilgrimage Kerala trips to praise their favorite gods or deities. Devotion to Gods is an essential and perennial part, particularly for Indians, of people from around the world. There are many religious sites in Southern India and with their eye-catching architecture, most of them draw tourists. To travelers planning a pilgrimage to South India, Kerala is a good choice. This state currently has a wealth of magnificent temples and holy places belonging to various religions. No doubt, travelers can choose Kerala as a gateway to the famous pilgrimage destinations in the southern part of India.
Aranmula
A large number of devotees were
attracted by the famous Parthasarathi temple on the banks of the Holy River
Pamba, dedicated to Lord Krishna. It was perceived that the temple deity is in
the form of Lord Krishna's' Viswaroopa' which appeared before Arjuna at the
time of' Geethopadesum.' Arjuna is expected to erect the statue.
The annual commemoration of the
deity's installation occurs on the Onam Festival's last day. The Aranmula boat
race is being held on this day as part of this celebration.
Aranmula's two-day boat race is
more of a water fiesta than a competition held during Onam. The event is a
re-enactment of the legend which involves a devoted brahmin who made an offer
to feed one pilgrim a day. Legend has it that one day Sree Krishna himself
appeared to him and the overjoyed Brahmin vowed to give 51 rice measures and
all provision at the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple for the Thiruvona Sadhya
(the sumptuous Onam feast). A fleet of Palliyodams brought the deal, about 48
of them representing the nearby villages of the backwater. (Wide, decorated
snake boats used for water processions in Hindu temples).
Today, there are only 26 snake
boats taking part in the event marked by a vibrant water carnival in which an
intimidating Sree Krishna effigy is brought out in procession on the lake with
children dressed as nymphs and princesses. On the second day, snake ships decorated
with silk parasols, carrying helmets, oarsmen and singers gathered early in the
morning near the temple and then moved away in pairs, creating a magnificent
pageant. The afternoon boat race takes place.
Aranmula's Vijnana Kalavedi
offers education in Kerala's traditional arts and crafts. Kathakali is taught
here, classical dance, classical music as well as Kalaripayattu (Kerala's
martial art). A number of foreign tourists who can stay here for different
periods and have first-hand knowledge of Kerala culture frequently visit the
center. Aranmula is also known for its
bell and metal mirrors. This is a rare art that has been found in the world
nowhere else. A divine vision is believed to have inspired this village's widow
to find a magical mix of bronze that could be waxed bright into a crystal clear
mirror. A family heirloom passed down through generations, is the essence of
its origin.
